VANCITY® GRIZZLIES POP UP AND CAPSULE DROP
It was the early 2000's, The Vancouver Grizzlies were gone, Dipt was in its infancy, clothes were ultra-baggy, The Harlem Shake was the dance and, partially thanks to And 1 and locally The Notic, street basketball was blowing up!
Among the growing number of Vancouver street ballers there were a few that stood out... Joey "King Handles" Hayward, Jermaine "J Fresh"Foster, David "Hush" Katz and Jamal "Where Ya At" Park. Taking cues from the likes of Fat Joe and Ruckers, Jeff "Martini" Martin decided to put these local street ball celebs together as a team to compete in 3 on 3 tournaments. The Dipt Uptowners were born.
About 15 years later King Handles is still immersed in basketball travelling the globe running camps and coaching, J Fresh is an accomplished DJ with residencies around the city, and Hush is making Katz Pozole soup (and still running the courts in between modelling gigs).
Sadly, our Grizzlies are still in Memphis but Vancity Original® has teamed up with Mitchell & Ness and NBA Hardwood Classics to bring together a Vancity x Mitchell & Ness product capsule.
Who better to showcase this very limited collaboration than the original members of the Dipt Uptowners.
We brought the ballers back one last time, and for a second, if you close your eyes and think back to the days of Big Country, Bibby and Abdur-Rahim, it's like the Grizzlies are still here.
Vancity Original® Brand alongside Mitchell & Ness is proud to announce our Vancouver Grizzlies Capsule hitting shelves Friday, September 28th! Get you piece of nostalgia at our pop-up inside Dipt at 819 Hornby Street or online at www.vancityoriginal.com.
